The Former Home Of The Cookie World S Famous Mrs Fields Is Up For Sale At 45 Million

The house that Mrs. Fields homemade cookies built was purchased by another sweet tooth bigwig in 2011, when Jeanette Brooks, co-founder of the company that makes health chocolate brand Xocai and her husband, Martin Brooks. Brooks says she got the property for just $1.7 million at auction, after it had sat empty for some 11 years amid financial troubles for the Mrs. Fields brand and a divorce between Debbi and then-husband Randy: “When I got the house it had sat empty for 11 years…Eleven different banks had a piece of it.” There were also “many disputes about who owned the house,” according to Brooks, who says she and her husband then spent some $3.5 million on renovating the property, as well as significantly expanding the land it encompasses. Now, the main house takes up nearly 17,000 square feet, with 10 suite-style bedrooms and myriad deluxe furnishings, all of which are included in the purchase price. There are also 11 fireplaces found in the house, and several elaborate stained glass windows, including a large piece imported from Scotland depicting the biblical figure Mary Magdalene, found just above the stairs in the entry hall.
