In July 2012 Porter defeated Alfonso Gomez to win the vacant WBO NABO Welterweight title. He won the IBF Welterweight title by beating Devon Alexander in December 2013. Porter suffered his first loss to Kell Brook in August 2014 when he lost the IBF Welterweight title. He defeated Adrien Broner in June 2015 to bring his professional record to 26 – 1 – 1 with 15 knockouts. As of January 2019 his career record out of 32 fights is 29 – 2 with 17 wins by knockout. In September 2019 Shawn lost to Errol Spence, Jr.
