Jorge Linares won the WBC featherweight title from Oscar Larios in July 2007. He won the vacant WBA super featherweight title by defeating Whyber Garcia in November 2008. He lost the WBA super featherweight title in his first career loss against Juan Carlos Salgado in October 2009. In July 2010 he won the WBA Fedelatin interim lightweight title over Rocky Juarez. Jorge Linares won the vacant WBC lightweight title by defeating Javier Prieto in December 2014. In September 2016 he won the WBA and vacant The Ring lightweight titles by beating Anthony Crolla. In January 2019 he lost to Pablo Cesar Cano to bring his record to 45-5.
