He played in the rookie level Arizona League and the Class A-Short Season Northwest League in 2014. In 2015 he played in the Class A Midwest League and Class A-Advanced Carolina League. Gleyber Torres was traded to the New York Yankees in 2016 and played in their minor league system. He made his Major League Baseball debut for the Yankees in 2018 and was an All-Star in 2018 and 2019. During the 2019 season he hit his first two grand slams.
