As a manager he managed the Minnesota Twins in 1969, the Detroit Tigers from 1971 to 1973, the Texas Rangers from 1973 to 1975, the New York Yankees from 1975 to 1979, the Oakland Raiders from 1980 to 1982, and the New York Yankees again in 1983, 1985, and 1988. Billy Martin passed away on December 25, 1989 at 61 years old in an automobile accident.
